ALTERNATIVE 3G TECHNOLOGY

ABSTRACT

A number of trends can be detected in the world of communications. First of all, the number of different devices a person uses to communicate is increasing rapidly. A couple of years ago it was uncommon for people to have more than a PC. Today, people use a handful of devices, from stationary PCs and laptops to PDAs and mobile phones
Another trend of convergence that we can see is between fixed and wireless networks. In order to increase bandwidth, cells are becoming smaller and smaller. We’re moving from macro cells, to micro cells, to Pico cells. New algorithms are being implemented to overcome the high air transmission error frequency. . Wireless is a way of accessing a network or other communication partners i.e., without a wire. The wire is replaced by the transmission of electromagnetic waves through the air.
Presently, we see an exponential growth rate in mobile communication systems, increasing mobility awareness in society, and deregulation of former monopolized markets. While traditional communication paradigms deal with fixed networks, mobility raises a new set of questions, techniques and solutions. For many countries, mobile communication is the only solution due to the lack of an appropriate fixed communication infrastructure.
The main objective of this paper is to describe alternative solutions to 3G (Third generation mobile) networks. In this paper we will describe two self sustaining and most feasible models that can provide broad band wireless access to a large portion of the population with some probability. The two modals are known as share point and Sweden open.
